Tour Details

At the scheduled time, we’ll meet in front of the Almodóvar Gate to begin our tour of Córdoba’s Jewish Quarter. Are you ready to discover one of the most beautiful areas of the city’s historic center?

After passing through this gate, one of the main entrances to Córdoba’s medieval city walls, we’ll venture into the narrow, picturesque alleys of the Jewish Quarter. As we stroll through its most beautiful spots, we’ll learn about the history of the ancient Jewish community, discovering its origins and subsequent historical evolution.

We’ll pass by the statue of Maimonides, one of the leading figures of Jewish Córdoba. We’ll uncover his fascinating story and then visit the interior of the synagogue. This 14th-century synagogue is, along with the one in Toledo, one of the best-preserved in Spain. We’ll learn all about its history!

After the guided tour of the Córdoba synagogue, we’ll explore other significant streets in the Jewish Quarter and take a stroll to the San Basilio neighborhood. In this picturesque district, we’ll visit 4 traditional Córdoba patios participating in the famous contest. This contest, held annually in May, has been declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Throughout our guided tour of Córdoba’s patios, we’ll enjoy the vibrant colors of their geraniums and flowerpots, as well as the intoxicating scent of their flowers. It’s a truly special setting, and one of the city’s most distinctive features.

Finally, we’ll leave the San Basilio neighborhood behind and conclude this 2.5-hour tour of Córdoba at the Puerta de la Luna.

Synagogue Closure

Please note that the Córdoba synagogue is closed on Mondays. If you take the tour on that day, we’ll view the temple from the outside and spend more time exploring the streets of the Jewish quarter.
