Guided Tour of Dallas
Dallas started life as a small trading center. However today it is one of the most important cities in the USA, thanks to the rapid development of its industry and business. We will start our guided tour by collecting you from your hotel Dallas.
First, we will visit Pioneer Plaza, in the heart of the city. Here you will see the bronze statues of cattle being driven by two cowboys. The artwork pays homage to the route typically taken to move livestock along the Shawnee Trail in the 19th century. The cowboy rancher tradition is deeply ingrained in the DNA of the inhabitants of Dallas and they are immensely proud of this history and culture.
We continue exploring the city center by walking along Main Street, where you will encounter the very first Neiman Marcus department store. This historic building casts a striking contrast with the giant modernist sculpture "The Eye". This is a great place to get some memorable photos of your trip to Dallas.
We then head into the historic West End, where historic red-brick buildings rub shoulds with soaring skyscrapers. We stop at Dealey Plaza, the infamous spot where president John. F Kennedy was assassinated in 1963. Here, you will find out all the fascinating details, and some of the conspiracy theories, about this important event in history.
We will arrive at Victory Park, a modern zone where you will see the American Airlines Center stadium, home to the local basketball and hockey teams and a venue for important events and concerts. You will also discover the Arts District, and Klyde Warren Park, which connects Downtown and Uptown Dallas.
When we reach Uptown we will walk down McKinney Avenue, the district's main thoroughfare full of restaurants, fashion boutiques, and handicrafts shops. Next to this is the exclusive neighborhood of Turtle Creek, known as the "Beverly Hills" of Texas.
We will stroll through this luxurious area until we reach Mockingbird Lane and the campus of the Southern Methodist University, where our tour finishes after hearing some important details about University life in Dallas.
