Activity Details

Exploring the impressive Tajogaite volcano in the Cumbre Vieja Natural Park is a must on any trip to La Palma. But can you imagine doing it at sunset? This hiking excursion will leave you completely in love with the Isla Bonita!

At the designated time, we'll meet on Calle Antonio Pérez in El Paso and, once everyone's together, we'll travel by minibus to the starting point of the hike in Llanos del Jable. The tour runs in a small group of no more than 8 people.

The excursion will take us close to the crater of Tajogaite, the most recent volcano on La Palma, bathed in the golden light of the setting sun. Along the way, we'll learn about the details of the September 19, 2021 eruption and the changes it brought to the island's landscape.

The hiking route, approximately 8 kilometers (5 miles) long and low in difficulty, will take us through ash and lapilli, while Canarian pine trees gradually regenerate across this volcanic landscape, all surrounded by the intense colors that shift and change as the sun sinks lower in the sky.

Finally, we'll arrive at the Llanos del Jable Astronomical Viewpoint, where we'll enjoy spectacular views of El Paso, the Aridane Valley, and of course La Palma's legendary starry sky. The island is recognized as a Starlight Reserve for the exceptional quality of its night sky!

With that unforgettable scene before us, we'll enjoy a picnic-style tasting of local Palmero products... toasts with mojos, figs, and nuts paired with wines or juices.

Finally, with that wonderful taste still fresh, we'll make our way back to the starting point in El Paso and say our goodbyes 4 hours later.
