Tour Details

Located in the outskirts of Escalona, a few kilometers from the Alberche River's shores and the Serra de Gredos, the Hacienda Villarta Winery is only 1 hour from Madrid and 30 minutes from Toledo. At the designated time, we'll meet at its parking lot to begin our guided tour of its facilities.

We'll begin with a tour of the vineyards, where you'll discover the types of grapes cultivated in this area in the province of Toledo. Did you know that this is where the famous wines of the Denominación de Origen Méntrida are crafted?

Our tour will continue in the winery's facilities, where you'll see the barrel room. Plus, you'll learn how these wines are elaborated and aged depending on whether they are red, white, or rosé wines.

As you'll discover, the wines mature for 20 months in nearly 3000 barrels made from American and French oak, which are constantly rotated using a special mechanical system patented in Villarted. During the tour, you'll also explore a room with different stainless steel tanks with a capacity of 1320 gallons (500 hectolitres), equipped with filtration, decanting, and temperature control systems.

We'll wrap up this 1.5-hour tour in the tasting room, where you'll enjoy a tasting of 3 wines paired with traditional Iberian snacks. With the help of the winery's enologist, you'll learn how to identify the subtle notes of aromas and flavors of each wine variety.
