Tour Details

Do you know the hidden side of Poland's Baltic jewel? To find out, we'll begin our free tour of Gdańsk's mysteries and legends next to Katownia, the tower that houses the museum of the city's former prison.

First, we'll learn about the legend of the captain who was beheaded at this tower, undoubtedly one of Gdańsk's symbols. After hearing this story, we'll continue our walk through the Old Town along Długa Street. At number 28 on this pedestrian street, the city's most iconic street, stands Dom Ferberów House. We'll stop in front of its facade to talk about the ghosts of the Ferber family, including the ghost of their dog.

Our next stop will be next to St. Mary's Church. This church holds the legend of the demon who brought the plague to Gdańsk. After learning how he was defeated, you'll have 10 minutes of free time to visit the interior of the monument, which is free to enter. Next, we'll go to Mariacka Street, where a Polish legend related to the origin of amber awaits us.

Continuing our walk through the old town, we'll learn the story of the Prussian princess Gustebalda, who, according to legend, was turned to stone. The route then continues along the banks of the Motława River, where we'll see Gdańsk's old port and dive into the Baltic legend of the Klabaternik, a spirit that, according to local mythology, assists sailors and fishermen.

We'll continue our tour on Ducha Świętego Street, a perfect place to discuss a legend related to none other than Zeus. Afterward, we'll go to Podwale Staromiejskie Street. Here, next to the ancient medieval walls, we'll tell you the story of the Black Volga. It's an urban legend that circulated in Poland in the 1960s and 70s, where a sinister dark car carried out nighttime kidnappings.

After a 2-hour tour, we'll conclude this free walking tour of Gdańsk in front of the New Town Hall. Here, we'll uncover the mystery of the Góra Gradowa tree, which curses single men and women. Do you know why? We'll end our tour by finding out!
