Langjökull Ice Cave Tour

After meeting up in Húsafell at the selected time, we'll make our way to the Langjökull cave and ice tunnels. In order to cross the ice as comfortably and easily as possible, we'll get kitted out in a protective suit and climb aboard a snow truck, specially designed to drive across glaciers.

Having arrived at Langjökull, we'll begin exploring the surface of this glacier, the second largest in Europe. Do you know how this artificial tunnel was excavated? We'll discover the history of this impressive piece of engineering as we enter the tunnels dug more than a thousand feet (300 metres) into the depths of the ice.

As we walk through the ice tunnels of Langjökull, we'll get to admire the strikingly blue coloured ice surrounding us on the floor, ceiling and walls. What's more, we'll have the opportunity to see the cave's ice chapel, a unique place to say "I do"!

After our unforgettable adventure inside the glacier, we'll return to the surface and make our way back to Húsafell, where our tour will end.

Important information

Because of the weather, the activity will last from two to three hours in summer and from three to four hours in winter.
