Tour Details
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up at your hotel in João Pessoa. From there, we'll start a trip to Campina Grande, where Vila Sítio São João is located. On board a themed vehicle, we'll be accompanied by a guide dressed in a traditional costume, characteristic of the typical matuto. We'll find out what it's all about!
After a 1.5-hour drive, we'll arrive at our destination: Vila Sítio São João. This place is an open-air museum depicting the daily life of a 19th-century village in the north-east of Brazil. Colourful mud houses, a wine cellar, mills, a blacksmith's workshop, a bookshop and many other elaborately decorated places make up the village.
As in all villages in this part of Brazil, the centre of town is the main square, where the parish church is located. This was the place where people gathered and where the most important events of the town took place. We'll enter the buildings of the village to see what it was like back then and take lots of photos.
During the visit, we can also taste typical dishes such as carne do sol and baião de dois. To complete the cultural experience even more, we'll listen to some forró, the region's traditional music. This musical genre was declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Brazil in 2021.
Finally, we'll head back to João Pessoa and say goodbye at your hotel about 10 hours after pickup.
