Cacao Lagoon & Cangrejal River Basin Day Trip
Day Trip Details
The day will start after you are picked up at the designated time at your hotel in La Ceiba. From there, we'll head to the Nombre de Dios National Park, a natural site filled with typical fauna and flora from the Honduran Caribbean. Adventure awaits!
Our first stop will be at the magical Cacao Lagoon, a reflecting pool of 0.38 square miles (1 square kilometer) surrounded by four types of mangroves. Once we arrive, we'll hop on a canoe to sail along these calm waters. As we immerse ourselves in its dense vegetation, we'll tell you the secrets of the animal species that inhabit this ecosystem.
We'll reach the mouth of the lagoon in the Caribbean Sea, where you'll have some free time to relax on the beach. Then, we'll head to the Cangrejal River basin to discover a riverbed flowing from a mountain chain known as the Cordillera Nombre de Dios.
Afterward, we'll visit a chocolate factory, where you'll witness the artisanal process of producing this treat and have the chance to taste it. Next, to satiate your appetite, we'll head to a lovely local lodging for you to grab a bite to eat and enjoy a traditional Honduran lunch. After lunch, we'll walk on the natural trails that cross the lush jungle.
After a total of 8 hours, we'll say goodbye after dropping you off at your hotel. Until next time!
