Boat Trip to Etna & Taormina
How to Get to Sicily from Malta?
If you're looking for a way to travel from Malta to Sicily, then we recommend booking this boat trip that departs from Valletta. We'll travel aboard a ferry from the Maltese capital, and in just 1 hour and 45 minutes, we'll be in Sicily to discover two of its great attractions: Mount Etna and Taormina.
Trip Details
At the indicated time, we'll meet at the port of Marsa, in Valletta. From there, we'll board a ferry bound for Sicily. All aboard!
Once we arrive at the port of Pozzallo, a typical fishing village in the south of the island, we'll board a bus that will be waiting to take us to Mount Etna on a journey of approximately 2 hours.
We'll climb up to the Sylvestri crater, at an altitude of 2,000 m (6,561 ft), where we'll enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the volcanic landscape. Did you know that Etna is one of the most active volcanoes in the world? Its constant activity and imposing presence make it one of the most unique places in Europe. It's breathtaking!
We'll take a tour of the slopes of Mount Etna and then give you 2 hours of free time to enjoy this place at your leisure. We recommend taking the cable car and admiring the lunar landscape from above, dominated by the red tones of the rocks and the black colour of the lava.
At the end of your free time, we'll hop back on the bus and travel to the charming town of Taormina, a journey that will take us about 1.5 hours. Once there, you'll have 2 hours of free time to explore this picturesque city and try some of the local cuisine. Did you know that it's considered to be the most exclusive destination in Sicily?
You'll be able to visit the famous Ancient Theatre, which has some impressive views of Etna and the Ionian Sea, stroll along Corso Umberto with its elegant shops and cafés, or simply enjoy the characteristic Mediterranean atmosphere.
Finally, we'll return to the port of Pozallo to board the ferry to Malta, where we'll conclude this 15-hour trip.
