Private Tour of Merida
Description
At the chosen time, we'll pick you up from your hotel and start this private tour of Merida. Are you ready to walk through the charming old town with a guide exclusively for your group? Let's go!
The tour will start by walking to Santa Lucia Park and strolling along the avenues of the Zócalo (the main square of a city) until we reach the Yucatan Cathedral. Did you know that it's the oldest cathedral in all of Mexico? There, we'll check out the Door of Forgiveness which, framed by even columns on the sides, presents the images of St. Peter and St. Paul.
Next, we'll continue our route through the Zócalo to find out the meaning of a very peculiar element: the "sillas confidentes". Then, we'll talk about T'Hó, the ancient Mayan city, where the current city of Merida in Yucatan was built.
Following that, we'll admire the exterior of the Plateresque-style Montejo house, a family home built by the Spanish conquistadors.
Before ending the tour, we'll stop at the Canton Palace, an eclectic Frenchified mansion from the early 20th century. Of course, a stop in front of the imposing Monumento a la Patria (Homeland Monument), a structure with 300 figures that depicts the main milestones of Mexico's history, is a must!
After 2 hours, we'll finish the private tour of Merida back at your hotel.
