When booking, you can choose between the following options. Both include hotel pickup and drop-off, an English-speaking guide, and last 2 hours.

Day Hike

Once we're all set with our hiking shoes laced up, we'll head out on a trail through El Enigma de la Semilla, one of Monteverde's most fascinating reserves. Before entering the forest, we'll walk through the Infinite Effect room. There, surrounded by mirrors, the vegetation and light multiply to create the illusion of a never-ending space, all while the sounds of water, wind, and wildlife wrap around us.

After this visit, we'll start walking along accessible paths and crossing bridges designed for a seamless journey through the Monteverde cloud forest. Along the hike, we'll lose ourselves among ferns unfurling their fronds, bromeliads, and epiphytic orchids. Did you know that many of these plants never touch the ground and still thrive, thanks to the region's humidity?

We'll need to keep our eyes peeled, because we'll learn to read tiny tracks, tell bird calls apart, and spot the faint shimmer of a leaf insect. We'll hear trogons announcing themselves in the tree clearings, see hummingbirds, and maybe even catch a glimpse of a sloth moving in stealth.

We'll follow the pulse of El Enigma de la Semilla's cloud ecosystem, watching the mist condense on the leaves. At the same time, we'll talk about ecological succession through invisible mutualisms and germinating seeds. It'll feel like a conversation with the forest!

Night Hike

Did you know that nighttime activates a whole other dimension of the ecosystem? On this option, we'll follow the same hiking route through the forest. The difference is that we'll walk with controlled lighting, staying alert as the forest comes alive.

Amphibians and insects will emerge from the leaf litter to greet us as the sounds intensify. With careful attention, we'll spot glass frogs, camouflaged arthropods, and nocturnal birds. Humidity in Monteverde gets denser at night, and with every detail, we'll learn how many species avoid the daytime heat and depend on darkness to feed and reproduce.

Departure Times

• Day hike: this option runs every day at 8 am, 10 am, 1 pm, and 2 pm.
• Night hike: runs every day at 6 pm and 8 pm.

Hotel Pickup

This tour includes pickup from hotels located in central Monteverde, Cerro Plano, Perro Negro, Los Llanos, Bajo Cementerio, and Cañitas.

If you're staying in Las Nubes, Los Olivos, Los Tornos, Turín, Cabaceras, El Tigre, Trapp Family, or Fonda, pickup will have a surcharge of US$ 10 per person. Pickup from El Dos, San Rafael, Campos de Oro, La Lindora, and San Luis will have a surcharge of US$ 15 per person.
