Narni Private Tour
Tour Details
We'll meet at the designated time at the Suffragio parking lot to begin our journey to the heart of Narni by crossing Porta Ternana, one of the old entrances to the city.
From here, you'll immerse yourself in the medieval atmosphere that characterizes every corner of the historic center. Did you know it was conquered by the Romans in the year 299 B.C.? And that the author C.S. Lewis references the Latin name of the city to create his book The Chronicles of Narnia? You'll discover so many fun facts about this town!
We'll then reach Piazza Garibaldi, where we'll admire the early medieval cistern, a testament to the sophisticated hydraulic system of ancient Narni. What do you think of this square with its somber architecture? Then, we'll head to the majestic Cathedral of San Giovenale, which we'll step inside to tour. You'll be amazed by its Romanesque structure, its frescoes, and side chapels, authentic treasures of religious art and history.
Outside, you'll observe the solemn Palazzo dei Priores, with its elegant pointed windows and the remains of the civic tower, a symbol of communal power. Close by, we'll stop in front of the Palazzo Communale, one of the most symbolic buildings of Narni's government in the Middle Ages, with its austere and harmonious facade.
Next, we'll enter the small but fascinating Santa Maria Impensole, a church that houses beautiful sculptured capitals in its interior, considered a Romanesque masterpiece.
You'll get lost among the medieval streets, letting yourself be captivated by every angle, stone arch, and scenic view over the valley.
Lastly, we'll enter Santa Frances, a church where you'll discover valuable frescoes and a quietness that invites you to reflect. Here, we'll conclude this 2.5-hour tour.
