Renting a bike in Ponte de Lima is the perfect way to explore Portugal’s oldest town and its surroundings while combining sightseeing and outdoor activity.

Bike Rental in Ponte de Lima

By renting a bike in Ponte de Lima, you’ll be free to explore the town and its beautiful natural surroundings at your own pace. Time to start pedaling!

We recommend beginning your route along the banks of the Lima River, following peaceful paths that lead to its iconic Roman bridge, one of the most recognizable landmarks in the area. From there, you can head into the historic center, strolling along cobbled streets lined with manor houses and historic buildings such as the main church.

You can also ride along Avenida dos Plátanos and continue toward lively squares like Largo de Camões, the social heart of Ponte de Lima. Here, you’ll find cafés, gardens, and traditional markets that reflect daily life in the town.

Continue your ride beyond the town center toward wide green areas and parks, perfect for taking a break and enjoying the scenery, before heading along rural paths that wind through the Minho countryside.

If you venture through vineyards, orchards, and small farms, you’ll discover the most authentic side of Alto Minho, dotted with villages, chapels, and scenic viewpoints offering beautiful views of the landscape.

Rental Options

During the booking process, you can choose from different types of bikes depending on your preference:

  • Children’s bike: designed for kids between 80 and 145 cm (2 ft 7 in to 4 ft 9 in) tall (approximately ages 3 to 10). If the child is over 145 cm tall, an adult bike should be booked.
  • Trekking bike: ideal for exploring both the historic center and flat rural paths or riverside routes, with a comfortable riding position for longer distances.
  • Gravel bike: suitable for mixed terrain, perfect for combining paved roads with dirt tracks and more demanding rural paths.
  • Hardtail MTB: lightweight and equipped with front suspension, ideal for trails, forest tracks, and routes with gentle elevation changes.
  • Electric trekking bike: offers pedal assistance to cover longer distances with less effort on flat rural routes and urban paths.
  • Full-suspension MTB: designed for more experienced riders, ideal for technical and demanding routes, offering greater control and comfort.
  • Electric hardtail MTB: combines electric assistance with the lightness of a hardtail MTB, perfect for exploring trails with less physical effort.
  • Electric full-suspension MTB: the most complete option, ideal for long routes and uneven terrain, providing maximum comfort, stability, and support.
