Day Trip Details

After picking you up from your hotel in Porto de Galinhas, we’ll head north to Recife, the capital of the state of Pernambuco. Known as the Brazilian Venice, this city welcomes visitors with its fascinating network of canals and bridges, as well as a history that dates back to the 16th century.

We’ll begin by exploring both the modern and historic parts of the city. We’ll pass the iconic Cais José Estelita and admire the imposing Five Points Fort, a Dutch-built fortress dating back to 1630 that holds many secrets from the colonial era.

Our next stop will be Republic Square. In this remarkable architectural complex, we’ll admire the façades of the Palace of Justice, the Palace of the Fields of the Princesses, and the majestic Santa Isabel Theater. Nearby, we’ll also visit the Golden Chapel, a dazzling example of Brazilian Baroque-Rococo art, where gold leaf decorates nearly every corner.

We’ll then continue to the House of Culture. Did you know this handicrafts center used to be a prison? We’ll walk through its galleries, once prison cells, where you’ll now find beautiful regional crafts such as leather goods, lace, and ceramics from northeastern Brazil. We’ll also see the Central Station building from 1888, now home to the country’s first railway museum.

After a panoramic tour through the charming neighborhoods of Casa Forte and Poço da Panela, we’ll arrive at the Ricardo Brennand Institute. This extraordinary medieval-style complex has been recognized several times as one of the best museums in South America.

Inside, we’ll explore its extensive gardens and impressive collection, which includes one of the largest armories in the world, English furniture, French tapestries, and the largest private collection of works by Frans Post.

Before heading back, you’ll also have some free time to recharge with lunch. Finally, we’ll begin the return journey to your hotel, arriving after approximately 7 hours.
