Porto & Vila Nova de Gaia + Water Taxi Tour

Activity Details

At the indicated time, we'll start our walking tour of Porto from the Monument to the Infante Dom Henrique, located in front of the Stock Exchange Palace.

After contemplating the monument and the palace from the outside, we'll also see the exterior of the church of San Francisco and the Ferreira Borges Market. The next stop will take place in front of the Casa do Infante, the house where Henry “the Navigator” was born on March 4, 1394.

We'll continue our walk through Porto to the Ribeira district, on the banks of the Douro River, where the Cais da Estiva pier is located. Next to it, we'll see the famous Muro dos Bacalhoeiros and the Puerta do Carvão. In this area is also the emblematic Ribeira Square, where we'll admire its iconic monumental fountain.

From there, we'll follow the route along Rua dos Canesteiros, seeing the extent of the floods suffered by Porto throughout the 20th century. After contemplating the Memorial of the Puente das Barcas and the reliefs of the monument of the Alminhas da Ponte, we'll go to a pier where we'll take a water taxi to Vila Nova de Gaia.

Arriving at this riverside town, we'll tour the area where the famous Port wine cellars are located. During the walk, we'll observe important urban art murals and pass by the Beira Rio Market until we reach the Corpus Christi Convent.

Here, we'll visit the interior of this beautiful 14th century monastery, located in the central square of Aljubarrota, which treasures outstanding works of sacred art.

After visiting the monastery, we'll conclude this 2-hour and 15 minutes tour at Loja Santa Marinha, a small winery in Vila Nova de Gaia where you can drink or buy port wine.

• Please note that on certain occasions, the water taxi service will not be available. In these cases, we'll go to Vila Nova de Gaia from Oporto crossing the bridge of Don Luis I, on foot.
• On Mondays, some rooms of the Corpus Christi Convent will be closed.
