Day Trip Details

We’ll start by picking you up from your hotel in Puerto Madryn. Once everyone’s ready, we’ll set off on a scenic drive of just over 2 hours heading south.

Traveling along National Route 3, we’ll reach the town of Trelew. Here, we’ll make a short stop to see the life-size replica of Patagotitan Mayorum, the largest dinosaur ever discovered. Standing at its feet, it’s impossible not to feel small beside such prehistoric grandeur.

From there, we’ll continue on to one of the stars of the tour, Punta Tombo. Our visit begins at the interpretation center, the perfect introduction to this unique ecosystem. Then we’ll head out onto the wooden walkways, where dozens of Magellanic penguins waddle, nest, and go about their day just a few steps away. If one decides to trail behind us, don't be surprised!

We’ll move quietly and respectfully, careful not to disturb their routine. These remarkable birds travel hundreds of kilometers each year only to return to the very same nest. Many pairs stay together season after season. Around us, there is constant motion: tiny arguments, clumsy sprints, affectionate reunions. It feels less like a visit and more like stepping into a living nature documentary.

Penguins are not the only residents here. Keep an eye out for guanacos, maras, and choiques wandering across the landscape. When it’s time for lunch, you’ll have 45 minutes of free time to grab a bite to eat at a local restaurant in the area.

After around 2 hours exploring Punta Tombo, we’ll head back to Trelew to visit the Egidio Feruglio Paleontological Museum. During our 1-hour visit, we’ll walk through exhibits that trace millions of years of history, from microscopic life forms to towering prehistoric giants. Fossils, skeletons, footprints, and immersive displays reveal how this wild corner of the world came to be.

Finally, we’ll return to Puerto Madryn and drop you back at your hotel approximately 9 hours after pickup.
