Caruaru Day Trip
Day Trip Details
We'll pick you up from your hotel in Recife and set off on a 130-kilometer (81-mile) journey inland. Next stop: Caruaru!
The journey itself is part of the experience, as we'll pass through mountainous landscapes and towns like Gravatá, known for its alpine-style architecture, and Bezerros, famous for its Papangus Carnival and the woodcut prints of J. Borges.
Once in Caruaru, we'll take a guided tour of its famous craft fair. In this huge market, you'll find an incredible variety of handmade pieces in ceramics, weaving, embroidery, wood, leather, and straw. We'll also visit Vila do Forró, a themed space designed to recreate a typical town from Brazil’s northeastern countryside.
Next, we'll head to Alto do Moura, one of the most important artisan hubs in Brazil. There, we'll learn about the legacy of the old masters and visit the Mestre Vitalino House Museum, once home to an icon of figurative art who immortalized everyday life in the region through clay figures.
Before heading back, you'll have some free time to grab lunch on your own. Time to recharge! Finally, after about 8 hours of touring, we'll drop you back at your hotel in Recife.
