South Coast Tour: Glaciers & Waterfalls

  • 88 reviews | 1,176 travellers
The excursion was very beautiful and the guide was wonderful. 100% recommended. Only Skogafoss disappointed me; the time they gave us to see the waterfall was just a rush to take four photos and rush back. It was a disappointment because I would have liked to have five minutes to look at it and enjoy how beautiful it is. Then they stopped us for 45 minutes to look at shops. However, I was compensated for by seeing the Northern Lights on the way back. The guide made us stop twice so we could see them, and I was so happy to see them.

Day Trip Details

At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from the designated meeting point in Reykjavík and set off on one of the island's most beautiful routes. Are you ready?

Our first stop will be Seljalandsfoss waterfall, famous for allowing visitors to walk behind its curtain of water, offering a unique perspective. Very close by, if road conditions are safe, we'll visit the hidden gem of Gljúfrabúi, an ‘invisible’ waterfall concealed behind a gap in the rock.

Afterwards, we'll continue to the imposing Skógafoss, one of Iceland's largest and most photogenic waterfalls, with a 60 m (196 ft) drop that often creates permanent rainbows on sunny days. After marvelling at its power, we'll head to the Sólheimajökull glacier, where we’ll approach its ice tongue to get a close-up view of the blue formations and volcanic ash frozen in time.

Our next stop will be the famous black-sand beach of Reynisfjara. Here, you'll witness the powerful Atlantic waves crashing against the basalt columns and the iconic rock pillars rising from the sea.

Finally, we'll visit the charming village of Vík, where we'll climb up to its famous church to enjoy the best panoramic views of the coast before heading back. We'll then say our goodbyes at the starting point after a 10-hour tour.
