Hill of Crosses & Jelgava Day Trip
Activity Details
At the indicated time, we’ll meet at the main entrance of Riga Cathedral. Once everyone has arrived, we’ll begin a 2-hour journey toward the Hill of Crosses. Ready? Let’s go!
We'll travel through the beautiful landscapes of Latvia until we approach the border with Lithuania. There, we'll stop at the line separating the two countries so you can take a souvenir photo. It's not every day you can stand in 2 countries just a step apart! From there, we'll continue to the Hill of Crosses.
Did you know it’s one of the most mystical places in the country? You’ll be amazed by the scene before you, filled with metal and wooden crosses representing the religious devotion of the thousands of pilgrims who visit the Hill of Crosses. Before heading to the next stop of the day, we’ll visit the Monastery of the Friars Minor.
Then, we’ll travel for 1 hour to the town of Jelgava, on the banks of the Lielupe River and one of the most important cities in Latvia. We’ll take a walking tour visiting its main attractions, such as the palace, the tower of the Church of the Holy Trinity, the Orthodox Cathedral of St. Simeon and St. Anna, and the port.
Finally, we’ll give you 1 hour of free time to have lunch at a restaurant in Jelgava. Afterward, we’ll meet again and return to Riga, where we’ll say our goodbyes at the starting point 7.5 hours later.
