Municipal Theatre & National Library Guided Tour
Tour Details
At the scheduled time, we’ll pick you up from your hotel and set off on this tour to discover two of Rio de Janeiro’s most iconic landmarks.
Our first stop is the Municipal Theatre, inaugurated in 1909 and considered one of the most important theatres in Latin America. Inspired by the Paris Opera, the building is a spectacle in itself, with stained glass windows, sculptures, frescoes, and golden details that are sure to impress.
As we explore the interior of the Municipal Theatre, we’ll share behind-the-scenes stories about this artistic symbol. You’ll also learn interesting facts about its own ballet company, symphony orchestra, and choir, a unique achievement in Brazil.
Our next stop is the monumental National Library, the largest in Latin America and one of the most important in the world. Founded in 1810 after the arrival of the Portuguese royal family, this majestic building houses nearly 9 million works, including unpublished manuscripts, historic maps, and imperial documents.
Did you know that, by law, a copy of everything published in Brazil must be preserved here? That’s what makes the National Library a true time capsule. We’ll travel through Brazilian history as we explore its collections.
At the end of this in-depth cultural tour, we’ll return to the starting point, where we’ll say goodbye after a total of 4 hours.
