Rocinha Favela Motorcycle Taxi Tour

When booking, you can choose one of the following options:

Rocinha Motorcycle Taxi Tour (45 minutes)

We'll meet at Exit A of the São Conrado metro station, and from there we'll begin our tour of Rocinha, Brazil's largest favela, aboard a motorcycle taxi.

Our first stop will be a viewpoint in the upper part of Rocinha. After enjoying the panoramic views, we'll go to the Laboriaux viewpoint, the highest point in the favela. From there, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the southern part of Rio, with Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon, Christ the Redeemer, and Copacabana Beach in the background.

Next, we'll visit the historic Rocinha mural, created in 2021 by artists Japonês and Loca. Through graffiti, this artwork depicts Rocinha’s history from the 1930s to the present day, highlighting its strength, identity, and community resilience. The next stop will be at Mureta de Dionéia, home to a mural honoring motorcycle taxi drivers, who are essential to mobility in the favelas and a symbol of everyday life in the community.

We'll then continue the tourto the rooftop of a local home, where you’ll have the chance to chat with the residents. The final stop will be the Rocinha Footbridge, built in 1978 after neighborhood mobilization and redesigned by Oscar Niemeyer in 2010. It provides a safe crossing over the Lagoa–Barra Highway and has become a cultural and tourist landmark.

We’ll end the tour by returning to the meeting point.

Rocinha + Sítio dos Macacos Motorcycle Taxi Tour (1 hour)

With this option, we’ll follow the same Rocinha mototaxi tour described above. We'll then continue our route by motorcycle taxi, visiting Sítio dos Macacos, a spectacular natural area located next to the Rocinha favela.

In this natural setting, we'll see several species of monkeys. We'll talk about the species that live here and learn to recognize their main characteristics.

Finally, we’ll conclude the tour at the starting point.

Rocinha + Sítio dos Macacos Walking Tour (4 hours)

In this case, we’ll follow the same route described above, but on foot. This allows us to take our time enjoying the viewpoints and murals of the Rocinha favela, as well as observing the monkey species that have Sítio dos Macacos as their natural habitat.

After 4 hours of walking, we’ll end this hiking tour at the meeting point.
