French Cay Kayak Tour + Snorkelling
Activity Details
At the indicated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Roatán or the cruise port. Once we're ready, we'll head to French Cay. There, after a quick introduction, we'll give you your kayaks and start our adventure.
We'll sail through the protected bay of French Cay, a pleasant route through calm waters. We'll begin to make out the silhouette of Roatán's mangroves while the silence of the surroundings envelops us, barely interrupted by the song of seabirds. During the tour, we'll discover the native birds, among which the kingfisher and the blue heron stand out.
When you least expect it, you'll reach the labyrinthine mangrove channels. There, we'll discover how the reefs begin in these submerged roots that feed them. Afterwards, it will be time to dive at a strategic point to snorkel in the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, the second longest on the planet.
We'll see brain corals, sea fans and elkhorn plants, which are home to thousands of fish. With snorkelling goggles, we may spot parrotfish, angelfish, butterflyfish and spotted serranos. With a little luck, maybe even a hawksbill turtle and, in the more sheltered corners, seahorses and octopus. The underwater gardens of Frech Cay are breathtaking!
Finally, after the snorkelling experience, we'll start paddling back to the dock of French Cay. From there, we'll take you back to the hotel or cruise port, where we'll arrive 3 hours after pickup.
