Doria Pamphilj Gallery Guided Tour
Tour Details
At the indicated time, we'll meet in front of the Il Facchino Fountain to begin this guided tour of the Doria Pamphilj Gallery, located in a beautiful 16th-century palace in the heart of Via del Corso. Did you know that it still belongs to the Doria Pamphilj family? This place is still a living testimony to the grandeur and refinement of the Roman aristocracy.
Ready to explore the biggest private art collection in Rome? During the visit, we'll pass through the lavish gilded halls, with silk-covered walls and corridors adorned with frescoes that tell stories of centuries gone by. We'll discover the details that characterise this illustrious family!
The gallery is home to great masterpieces by Caravaggio, including Rest on the Flight into Egypt and Penitent Magdalene, where the mastery of chiaroscuro can be appreciated—the characters seem to come to life!
Of course, we'll admire the famous Portrait of Pope Innocent X by Velázquez, considered to be one of the masterpieces of oil portraiture, capturing the personality of the pontiff. We'll also see works by Titian, Bernini, Raphael and the Flemish masters, each contributing their genius to this unique collection.
We'll also tell you fascinating stories of the historical figures who have passed through these rooms: what intrigues, passions and legacies of popes and princes have left their mark on the Palazzo Doria Pamphilj and the history of the Eternal City? We'll find out!
2 hours later, we'll end the guided tour by saying goodbye at the entrance to the gallery.
