Tour Highlights

At the scheduled time, we'll pick you up from your hotel in Salvador de Bahia to commence our exploration of the Candomblé religion. Get ready to immerse yourself in the mystical allure of the African belief system prevalent in the Northeast of Brazil. Let's dive in!

First, we’ll head to the Tororó Dam, where the famous Orixás sculptures await us. These majestic sculptures, which seem to float above the water, represent the African deities of the Candomblé religion.

After admiring Salvador de Bahía’s only natural spring, protected as a national historic site, we’ll head to a terreiro, a sacred space where Candomblé is practiced, where we’ll discover all the spiritual and ancestral traditions of this faith. It will be a very special moment! Did you know that this religion believes the spirit of nature is comparable to the human soul? And that its gods are called orishas, voduns, or nkisis?

Then, we'll continue our tour in the historic center of Salvador de Bahía. We'll walk through its streets and visit the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary, one of the finest examples of religious syncretism in the city.

We’ll learn about the relationship between Catholicism and Afro-Brazilian religions, and then we’ll visit the Afro-Brazilian Museum to learn about the history of this state and the impact on the development of its culture following the period of slavery.

To round out the tour, we’ll head to the Pierre Verger Gallery, named after the French anthropologist who documented that era through his photographic archives. The perfect ending to the tour!

As our journey draws to a close, we'll bid you farewell at the tour's starting point 4 hours after the adventure began.
