Please see the details of each route below:
Hike on the North Face of Monte Conero
We'll begin our hike by approaching the lush Mediterranean greenery on the north face of Monte Conero. We'll stop off at two impressive viewpoints offering panoramic views of Portonovo Bay and the coast of Ancona. These lookout points are ideal for spotting peregrine falcons, which nest on the nearby cliffs.
We'll continue our tour by exploring places of great historical interest, including a series of ancient cave paintings that reveal the human presence in this area of Italy over the centuries. We'll also visit a Roman cave - a fascinating space that will allow us to step back in time into the era of the Roman Empire.
Hike on the South Face of Monte Conero
We'll begin our adventure by exploring the Mortarolo Cave, whose storied past is sure to impress you! We'll continue to the Belvedere Sud, a panoramic viewpoint which provides unbeatable views of the beautiful San Pietro Bay, with its crystal clear waters and rugged coastline.
We'll then head towards the Piani di Raggetti, another area characterised by charm and natural beauty. There, you'll be able to admire the grandeur of the mountainous environment. But the adventure does not end here, as we'll go back in time to enter the age of dinosaurs, visiting the quarry where the KT limit (an important archaeological site) is located, an important palaeontological site.
