Hiking to the Bauxite Mines of Apulia

At the time of your choice, we'll meet at the Azienda del Cavone. From this point on the outskirts of Spinazzola, we'll start a hiking route to the bauxite mines of Apulia!

We'll walk through one of the most amazing places in the National Park of Alta Murgia. In this natural area of southern Italy, we'll learn about the bauxite extraction process in the past. This mining activity was one of the main economic drivers of the region.

During the tour, we'll see the bright red tones of the bauxite minerals contrasted with the green of the lush forests of Aleppo pines and cypresses. We'll have some incredible panoramic views of the great natural beauty of these landscapes.

As we walk through this unique environment, we'll also see the golden wheat fields of the Bradano Valley, which extend up to the high mountains of the Lucan Apennines.

Finally, after a hike of about 3 hours, we'll conclude the hiking route back at the meeting point.
