St Petersburg Ballet: what to expect?

Watching a performance of the mythical Russian Ballet is an experience that will delight anyone, whether or not you're a lover of dance.

After the second Romanov ruler, Tsar Alexis Mikhailovich, had a ballet performed as part of his wedding celebrations in the 17th century, it became a popular tradition amongst the Russian aristocracy. By the early 19th century, ballet was no longer just entertainment for the imperial court, and instead became accessible to all in public theatres.

This ticket allows you to enjoy one of the world's best known ballets, the legendary Swan Lake, at one of St Petersburg's most prestigious theatres. An unforgettable evening of culture!

St Petersburg Theatres

Your St Petersburg Ballet ticket is valid to enter whichever theatre is hosting the ballet company on the evening of your show. The performance may take place in any one of the Russian city's most important theatres: the Mariinsky, or Kirov, Theatre; the Bolshoi Theatre; the Alexandrinsky Theatre, the Hermitage Theatre, the Komissargevskaya or the Anichkov Palace. Every one of these stunning historic venues will leave you in awe of their beautiful architecture and decor.

It is not possible to choose the theatre, which will be assigned automatically depending on availability on the chosen date.

Theatre seats

The theatre will assign you the best available seats together when you make your reservation. This means the earlier you book, the better!

Our tickets are always located in the Parterre (ground floor) or Bel Étage (dress circle) seating areas of the theatres. The only exception is the Hermitage Theatre, where seats are not assigned, as the small size of the theatre mean the stage can be seen equally from all seats.

Cruise passengers

This activity is also suitable as a shore excursion for cruises arriving in St Petersburg and includes all the necessary documentation you'll need to pass border control, as well as a pick up and drop off service at St Petersburg cruise port.
