Tokyo National Museum Guided Tour
Tour Details
After meeting at the indicated time at Parks Ueno Store, we'll begin this guided tour of the Tokyo National Museum. Are you ready to discover Japan's oldest and biggest museum?
Once we're all together in front of the building, located in the heart of Ueno Park, we'll discuss why it's such an important and prestigious museum. There, we'll begin our immersion into the fascinating history of the Japanese archipelago.
Accompanied by a historian, we'll tour the main rooms of this space while discovering unique objects that narrate the evolution of Japan from prehistory to the modern age.
We'll admire the mysterious ceramic figures from the Jōmon period, the elegant katanas forged using ancient techniques, and the impressive armour worn by legendary samurai in combat. You'll learn so much!
We'll also learn about the impact of the arrival of the West in Japan, and how this encounter transformed the country's art and culture, giving rise to the characteristic Japanese modernism.
But it's not all indoors! The museum also offers a peaceful haven in its gardens, where we'll stroll among replicas of old Japanese houses while chatting about the customs and ways of life of classical Japan.
After a total of 3.5 hours, we'll conclude our visit to the Tokyo National Museum.
