Ready for an unforgettable day in the pearl of southern Cuba? We'll pick you up at your hotel in Trinidad and set off on a 90-minute drive. The perfect time to admire the coastal and mountainous scenery through the window!
Our first stop will be the Cienfuegos Botanical Garden, one of the oldest in the country. Founded in 1901, it's home to more than 2,000 species of plants, many of them exotic. Did you know that it houses one of the largest palm collections in the world? We'll walk along paths featuring over 280 types of palms, including the sausage tree, the walking tree, and the elephant's foot.
After this 1-hour visit, we'll head downtown Cienfuegos for a 2-hour guided tour. We'll begin at Martí Park, the main square, surrounded by imposing neoclassical buildings unique in Cuba. We'll visit the majestic Tomás Terry Theater, inaugurated in 1890, where the echoes of artists such as Enrico Caruso and Anna Pavlova still resonate. Can you imagine European operas in the heart of the Caribbean?
Next, we'll go in search of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, famous for its striking stained-glass windows that flood the interior with light. The tour will then take us to the Palacio de Valle, an eclectic gem with Moorish, Venetian, and Gothic influences, declared a National Monument. From its terraces, we'll have the best views of the Caribbean Sea.
Afterwards, we'll stroll through Punta Gorda, an elegant neighborhood with colonial houses overlooking the bay, before heading to the lively Cienfuegos Boulevard. There, we'll stop at a traditional restaurant to enjoy a typical Cuban lunch made with regional products. What a perfect way to end the tour!
Finally, after enjoying lunch for 1.5 hours, we’ll begin the return journey to your hotel in Trinidad, arriving after a total of 8 hours.
