National Mangrove Sanctuary of Tumbes & Puerto Pizarro Tour
National Mangrove Sanctuary of Tumbes & Puerto Pizarro Tour
At 8 am we'll meet at the Francisco Bolognesi Park and depart for the National Sanctuary of Mangroves of Tumbes.
After half an hour's drive by minibus, we'll arrive at this area that protects the biodiversity of the mangroves and we'll explore it observing its endemic flora and fauna.
You'll enjoy the peace and tranquillity of this natural environment as we walk through its forests. Afterwards, we'll get into a canoe to navigate through the reserve's estuaries, and you'll have a great time!
With a paddle we'll reach the Unicasio and Oscuro trails, where we'll see mangroves up to 20 metres (65 feet) high and animals that live among their branches. We'll then get out of the canoes and take the bus to Puerto Pizarro, where the second part of the tour will take place.
Here we'll take a walk along the boardwalk to visit the tourist area of the port and greet the fishermen. We'll then take a motorboat to tour the bay.
We'll see crocodiles, birds and many other species as we cruise around the islets surrounding Puerto Pizarro. When we reach Amor Island, we'll disembark for a lunch of fresh fish and seafood, and you'll also have time to swim and relax.
Finally, we'll return by boat to Puerto Pizarro and take you to your hotel in Tumbes. Arrival is scheduled between eight and ten hours after pickup.
