Valencia Free Tour
Valencia Free Walking Tour
At the indicated time, we'll begin this guided tour of Valencia in the heart of the city, where we'll learn about the stories behind its main monuments: the Virgen de Los Desamparados Basilica, the Turia fountain...
We'll stroll past the Plaza de la Virgen, where two important Valencian traditions take place: the floral offering during the 'Fallas' (a celebration of St. Joseph held every year) and the Tribunal of Waters (a tradition which settles irrigation disputes among farmers, declared UNESCO cultural heritage). We'll also observe the renaissance architecture of the Town Hall, the headquarters of the Valencian autonomous government.
The free walking tour then continues to the Miguelete, the belltower of the Valencia Cathedral. We'll share anecdotes and unusual facts surrounding the church, before heading to the gothic Llotja de la Seda, reminding us of the 15th-century heyday, when Valencia played a crucial role in commerce.
From the 15th century, we'll jump forward in time to 1914, just crossing the street! We'll arrive at the Valencia Central Market, a fine example of Valencian modernism, showcasing an architectural style that took hold in the early 20th century.
Next up, we'll visit the Serranos Towers. Along with the Quart Gate, these towers are true testaments of time, standing as incredible remnants of the medieval walls that once surrounded Valencia.
Then, after an enriching 2.5 hours touring this coastal city, we'll bring our tour to an end.
