Leave Valencia behind for a day and head to explore the beautiful vineyards in its surrounding area with this Requena Wine Tour. Taste local wines at traditional wineries!
Requena Wine Tour
At 7:30 am we'll meet in the centre of Valencia and head towards the town of Requena to visit two important wineries.
Our first stop will be at the Pago de Tharsys Winery, where we'll start a guided tour of its facilities at 11 am. The owner of this emblematic winery is considered to be the father of Cava! We'll spend 45 minutes learning how wine and cava is made here. You'll feel like a real expert by the end of the tour!
We'll then head to the Murviedro Winery and, at 12:30 pm, we'll begin a tour of its different rooms to learn all about Requena's most famous grape: Bobal. After an hour and a half tour, you'll have two hours of free time to get some lunch.
At 4 pm we'll meet back up to head to our last stop. Did you know that there are many houses in Requena built on top of caves that are used as wine cellars? The 22 wine caves under the Plaza de la Villa are from the Muslim period, from the 12th and 13th centuries, and were used to store wine until the 17th century!
Once the wine tour to Requena is over, we'll take you back to your hotel in Valencia.
