Willemstad Electric Scooter Tour
Tour Details
At the indicated time, we'll meet in the parking lot of the Zanzibar Restaurant, near Jan Thiel Beach, where we'll listen to a brief safety introduction and assign you the electric scooters. Let's go!
Once we're ready, we'll set off in search of Caracasbaai Beach, where a gentle sea breeze and a panoramic view of the bay await us. Here we'll learn about the rich marine biodiversity of this area of Curaçao.
The next stop will be in front of the Beekenburg fort. We'll park the electric motorcycles at the foot of this bastion and climb its stone stairs. We'll begin to contemplate the sturdy walls that once defended the island from Spanish, French, and British attacks. As we reach the top of this fort, we'll talk about its construction in 1703 and the occupations it had.
Next up as we get back on the scooters, we'll head to Tug Boat Beach, famous for a shipwreck now covered by coral reefs. We'll also visit an iconic dog shelter, a poignant example of local commitment to animal welfare.
Continuing our route, we'll arrive at the Quarantine House, a former 18th-century residence that served as a quarantine station for sailors and travelers suffering from yellow fever. Its weather-worn walls will transport us to another era as we discover how this building played a key role in protecting the island's public health.
Finally, we'll return to the initial meeting point, where we'll say goodbye after 1 hour and 45 minutes of sightseeing.
