One of China's most impressive archaeological sites, the wonderous Terracotta Army was discovered by local farmers in 1974 and is thought to date back to the 3rd century BC.

What is the Terracotta Army?

The 'Terracotta Army' is a massive collection of figures depicting soldiers, horses and chariots, depicting the armies of Qin Shi Huang—China's first emperor. The ensemble (consisting of 8,000 sculptures) was built to protect the tomb of the emperor and to join him on his journey to the afterlife.
