4-Day Choquequirao Trek
4-Day Choquequirao Trek
Day 1: Cachora - Chiquisca
We'll pick you up at your hotel at 4 am and start the journey to Cachora, the starting point of our first hike of the trip.
This trail will initially take us up a steep slope for about three hours until we arrive at the Capulliyoq viewpoint, where we'll get breathtaking bird's eye views of the Apuriamac River and the ruins of Choquequirao.
Then, we'll descend from the viewpoint to the village of Chiquisca, where we'll finish our first day of hiking. Here, we'll set up camp and rest until the following day.
Day 2: Chiquisca - Santa Rosa - Marampata - Choquequirao
After breakfast, we'll set off once again. Today one of the longest but most rewarding hikes of the whole trip awaits us. We'll walk for approximately eight hours and make two stops: in Santa Rosa, where we'll have lunch, and in Marampata, where we'll enjoy the spectacular views from its lookout point.
We'll end the day at the archaeological site of Choquequirao, where we'll take a guided tour to learn about this majestic place, known as "Machu Picchu's little sister". We'll discover temples, storehouses, and little corners full of pre-Columbian tales, mysteries, and artifacts.
After the tour, it'll be time to have dinner and camp in the surroundings of Choquequirao.
Day 3: Choquequirao - Chiquisca
We'll have breakfast at the campsite and start our descent. We'll pass again through the Apurimac canyon until we reach Rosalina beach, where we'll sit to enjoy the views and a delicious meal.
Then the trail will take us to the camp in Chiquisca, where we'll have dinner and spend the last night.
Day 4: Chiquisca - Capuliyoc
After breakfast, we'll set off on our final day of trekking until we reach Capuliyoc, where we'll have lunch. There, we'll board a minibus and head back to your hotel.
Meals and Accommodation
The route includes accommodation in campsites equipped with tents (each tent has a maximum capacity of three people) and kitchen staff, who will prepare three breakfasts, four lunches, and three dinners. The camps also have portable toilets and washrooms.
Important to Note
This is a more difficult trekking route that has steep pountain passes located between 2,000 and 3,400 meters (6,560 - 11,150 feet) above sea level, so it is therefore not recommended for people who are not in good physical shape, or those who have difficulty breathing or moving at high altitudes.
