At the designated time, we'll pick you up from the meeting point that you have selected and, from here, we'll make our way along the A-22, one of the main roads in the Algarve. The landscapes in this part of southern Portugal will charm you!
After a 1-hour drive, we'll reach the Seven Hanging Valleys Trail. On this famous trail, awarded by European Best Destinations as one of the best routes on the Old Continent, we'll embark on an exciting hike around the Benagil caves' surroundings.
Along this 1.5-kilometre (0.93 miles) route that will take us 1.5 hours, we'll enjoy extraordinary scenic views of the Benagil caves. How were these sea caves formed? What makes them ochre-coloured? Why are they so famous? We'll provide answers to all your questions!
First, we’ll walk along the incredible limestone cliffs of Praia da Marinha, where we’ll enjoy one of the best views of the Algarve’s natural arches and sea caves. Next, we’ll stop at the iconic Benagil Cave, a formation over 16 million years old that we’ll view from above, a unique perspective that will leave you speechless.
We’ll continue the hike at Algarseco, a rocky formation by the sea, where we’ll see Bonseca Cave and its nooks and crannies carved out by the sea.
Finally, we’ll stop at Praia da Senhora da Rocha and Nova. At this beach, located very close to the caves, you’ll have 1.5 hours of free time to go snorkeling if conditions are favorable. You can also take this opportunity to recharge your energy with the food you’ve brought along. The perfect ending to this hiking route!
From there, we’ll finally return to the various pickup points, where we’ll conclude this activity 6.5 hours later.
