Cyclops Islands Boat Trip + Lunch
Tour Details
At the indicated time we'll meet at Via Ricca in Aci Trezza. From here, we'll walk to the harbour to get on the boat that will take us to the Marine Protected Area of the Cyclops Islands. Let's set sail!
The boat trip around the Cyclops Islands, which lasts about two hours, will allow you to admire the beauty of this small Italian archipelago. Did you know that its name comes from the legend of the voyage of Ulysses? We'll tell you all about this myth as we leave the centre of Aci Trezza behind us.
We'll first see the Isola di Lachea, the largest of the Cyclops islands. As we admire its coasts, we'll talk about the archaeological wealth of this area, where tombs and countless late Roman artefacts have been found.
As we sail the seas we'll also admire the Faraglione Grande and the Faraglione Piccolo, two other islands of the archipelago. We'll investigate the links of these portions of land with the eruptions of Etna while you take hundreds of photos.
Before returning to the mainland, we'll see the Norman castle of Aci Castello, dating back to the 7th century, and the Ulysses caves, marine grottoes that are sure to surprise you. If you wish, you can take a dip in them.
Once we've docked, we'll serve you a delicious lunch with typical Sicilian products, including arancino di riso catanese with meat, baked onions and cartocciata alla parmigiana. In addition, you can accompany it with wine and water and a Sicilian dessert of almond paste.
After 3 hours in total, we'll conclude the activity, arriving back at the starting point.
