La Barceloneta & Parc de la Ciutadella Free Tour
Tour Details
At the designated time, we'll meet in front of the Arc de Triomf in Barcelona and kick off our tour that will take you on a journey through the history of the “City of Counts.” Let's start our free tour of the Parc de la Ciutadella and La Barceloneta!
In 1888, the Universal Exposition was celebrated in Barcelona, an event that marked a before and after in the Catalan capital. In fact, the Arc de Triomf was built as the main entrance to the exhibition. From here, we'll step into the Parc de la Ciutadella, where we'll be greeted by its greenhouses with rare and tropical plants.
We'll pass the Cascada Monumental, a monument designed by the architect Josep Fontserè that draws the attention of all visitors, and we'll see the Parliament of Catalonia. This last site is the perfect spot to learn about Barcelona's political, military, and historical significance.
Then, we'll leave the park behind and explore the neighborhood of La Barceloneta, where the city meets the Mediterranean Sea. We'll discuss the importance of the population's maritime activity and see how it has been transformed in this area over the years. La Barceloneta started as an industrial area and is now one of the most popular tourist attractions in Barcelona, especially after the 1992 Olympic Games.
Finally, after a total of 2 hours, we'll say our goodbyes with the iconic views of La Barceloneta Beach.
