At the scheduled time, we'll meet on Mallorca Street, in front of the Nativity Facade, Gaudí’s most organic sculptural masterpiece. From here, we'll cross the threshold of a building unlike any other in the world: the Sagrada Família .
Upon entering, we'll walk through the central nave and find ourselves surrounded by a system of supports that breaks with the classical column. It consists of a set of tree-like pillars that branch out through regular geometries and structural solutions characteristic of a true engineer-poet. Did you know that these columns lean and fork to distribute loads without the need for buttresses?
We’ll look up at the vaults, where formal complexity isn’t a whim, but rather constructive logic transformed into pure beauty. We’ll continue the tour by observing the light filtering through the stained-glass windows that color the space and create a symbolic gradient. There, we’ll understand that Gaudí designed the lighting so that color would function as yet another architectural material.
During the tour, we’ll stop to examine details that often go unnoticed, such as the turtles at the base of some columns, the numerical grid that always adds up to 33, and the coded messages in ceilings and reliefs.
Finally, we’ll explore the narrative contrast of the Passion Facade, severe and dramatic, where the sculpture intensifies the story with sharp edges and shadows.
We’ll say goodbye after 1.15 hours inside the temple, and you’ll be free to explore on your own until closing time.
