Birmingham History Tour
At 1:45 pm we'll meet at Railroad Park to begin this historic tour of Birmingham.
We'll spend 3 hours enjoying walking the streets of Alabama's largest city. As we discover its past, we'll visit highlights such as the historic Sloss Furnaces, Vulcan Park, Rickwood Field Stadium, and the 16th Street Baptist Church.
We'll uncover the most interesting facts about the history of iron, the civil rights struggle and how the industrial capital of the American South came to be.
We'll also learn the story of how the first baseball stadium in the country was built and we'll review what happened to the children in the Birmingham Movement of 1963.
Having travelled back in time from the beginnings of the Birmingham constitution to the present day, the tour will end by returning to the meeting point at Railroad Park, arriving at 4.45 pm.
