Tour Details

We’ll begin this complete Bogotá tour by meeting at the scheduled time at Café Chantonner Delikatessen. From there, we'll head to the Gold Museum to admire the many wonders of pre-Columbian art.

Afterwards, we’ll head to the San Francisco Church, a true Baroque masterpiece famous for its altars covered in 24-carat gold leaf.

We’ll then continue on foot to the iconic Plaza de Bolívar, where you’ll learn about the country’s main political and religious institutions. From there, we’ll walk along 10th Street, home to important historical buildings such as the Colegio de San Bartolomé, the House of Manuelita Sáenz, Bolívar’s former residence, once the presidential palace, and the houses of Viceroy Sámano.

The route will continue to the House of the Marquis of San Jorge and the Custodia de la Lechuga Museum. Our next stop will be the Botero Museum, where we’ll admire Fernando Botero’s distinctive sculptures. We’ll then see La Candelaria Church, which gave its name to the historic district. Here, we’ll take a short break to enjoy some coca tea before heading to the Chorro de Quevedo, the site where Bogotá was founded.

Next, we’ll make our way to Plaza de la Concordia. At this stop, we’ll enjoy a fruit tasting, sample chicha, and sit down for a traditional lunch that includes ajiaco with curuba juice, as well as a typical sweet made of figs with cheese or an oblea.

After lunch, we’ll take a vehicle to the entrance of Monserrate Hill. Depending on availability, we’ll ride the cable car or funicular to the top, where we’ll enjoy the best panoramic views of Bogotá.

After visiting Monserrate and descending, we’ll conclude our tour of Bogotá’s historic center, bringing this full-day experience to an end.

Partial Closures

  • On Mondays, the Gold Museum is closed. In this case, we'll visit the Esmeralda Museum or the Casa de la Moneda Museum and an exhibition in the Colonial Art Museum.
  • On Tuesdays, the Botero Museum is closed. Therefore, instead, we'll visit the Esmeralda Museum or the Military Museum, depending on your preference.
