Paloquemao Market Square Guided Tour
Colombian Fruit Tour
We’ll begin our tour at the entrance of Paloquemao Market Square, one of Bogotá’s most important hubs for fresh fruit. Are you ready to discover Colombia’s culinary traditions and the essential role fruit plays in its cuisine?
Once inside the market, we’ll stroll through the colorful stalls to discover the incredible variety of tropical fruits found across the country. One of them is granadilla. As soon as you taste it, you’ll notice the sweet pulp that surrounds its seeds. We’ll also sample zapote, another popular fruit sold at Paloquemao. Although its skin is rough and hard to peel, the effort is well worth it, as inside you’ll find refreshing orange flesh.
Our walk will also take us to a stand selling maracuyá, also known as passion fruit. As we enjoy its tangy flavor, we’ll learn about some of the legends surrounding its supposed aphrodisiac properties. We’ll then stop by a guanábana stall. Despite its prickly appearance, once opened it reveals a soft, white flesh whose delicate flavor contrasts with its rugged exterior. In total, you’ll taste 15 different fruits!
Before saying goodbye, we’ll enjoy a fresh fruit juice to round off this delicious experience.
