At the designated time, we'll begin this free tour of Chartrons from the Colonnes Rostrales monument. Ready to discover one of the most important neighborhoods in Bordeaux?
This district is famous for its wine bars, but also for its resistance to the Nazi occupation during the Second World War. Our first stop will be at a bunker from that time, hidden under the calm streets of the neighborhood. Very close, we'll find the Hôtel Fenwick, the former site of the first American consulate in Bordeaux.
Right next to this site, we'll see the facade of another important building in Chartrons, which dates back to the 19th century: the Bourse Maritime. Our next stop will be at Entrepôt Lainé, old wine warehouses that have become cultural spaces.
Afterward, we'll head to the Wallace Fountain, where you'll learn the history of this famous fountain. Then, we'll stroll along the Protestant Temple in Bordeaux and the Church of Saint-Louis-des-Chartrons, a Neo-Gothic-style building from the 19th century.
Finally, we'll stroll along the shores of the Garonne River. After 2 hours, we'll conclude this free tour of Bordeaux at the old wineries of the Chartrons neighborhood.
