Bratislava Free Walking Tour
Tour Details
At the designated time, we'll meet at Rybné námestie, by the Plague Column. Before we dive into the past, we'll start by getting our bearings in today's Old Town while taking in views of the iconic SNP Bridge spanning the Danube.
From there, we'll make our way toward Bratislava Castle, perched high above the city. We'll admire its impressive exterior while our guide fills us in on the castle's early history and the strategic role it played over the centuries.
Next, we'll head to St. Martin's Cathedral, a Gothic gem that reflects the city's growth and rising importance during the Middle Ages. This is where Hungarian kings and queens were crowned for nearly 3 centuries, a pretty impressive claim to fame.
We'll then stop at Michael's Tower, the only surviving gate of the city's medieval fortifications, and talk about Bratislava's golden age as a key coronation city. From here, we'll reach the Main Square, the beating heart of the Old Town, where the surrounding buildings tell the story of the city's turbulent past.
Looking toward the Old Town Hall, we'll explore Bratislava's multicultural character and its long tradition as a center of civic life. Our journey through the city's history continues in Primate's Square, one of the most beautiful squares in Bratislava.
After 2.5 hours, we'll wrap up the tour in SNP Square, a place closely tied to some of the most important moments in modern Slovak history.
