Amsterdam Day Trip + Rembrandt Hoeve Cheese Farm Tour
Day Trip Details
After meeting at the designated time at the Boulevard de Berlaimont, we'll leave Brussels behind and head to the nearby country of the Netherlands. Let's go!
As we cross the border, you'll start to see this country's differences with Belgium, like its flat terrain, its typical windmills, and its polders, low-lying tracts of land with sea.
Before we reach Amsterdam, we'll stop at the Rembrandt Hoeve cheese and clog factory, on the shores of the Amstel River. Here, we'll embark on a tour for approximately 1 hour, where we'll learn all the secrets in preparing Gouda cheese and the art of crafting these iconic wooden shoes. Are they comfortable? You'll find out! Plus, we'll taste cheeses from the farm.
Prepare your cameras, because afterward we'll stop for a photo session at the Riekermolen windmill. Say cheese!
When we arrive at the Dutch capital, we'll pass by the National Bank and the famous Heineken Brewery. We'll then reach the Co-cathedral Basilica of Saint Nicholas, and from this location, we'll go on a stroll for about 20 minutes and see the Amsterdam Centraal station and the Dam Square, where we'll find the Royal Palace.
Afterward, you'll have 3.5 hours of free time to eat, stroll, go shopping, and explore the canals of Amsterdam by boat. We'll regroup to begin our journey back, which will take us along the picturesque floating houses and the replica of the boat from the Indias Orientales company. What is the story behind this fascinating boat?
You'll also pass the monument to the Jewish victims and its museum, the Artis Zoo, and the Science Museum, designed by the illustrious architect Renzo Piano.
Lastly, we'll leave Amsterdam and head to Brussels, where we'll say goodbye at the Brussels-Central Railway Station after 12 hours.
