Fileteado Porteño: Buenos Aires Folk Art Workshop
Activity Details
At the indicated time, we’ll meet at 1053 Balcarce Street to start the fileteado porteño workshop in San Telmo.
First, we’ll introduce you to the fascinating tradition of fileteado porteño. This decorative style was born in Buenos Aires in the early 20th century and, thanks to its unique mix of color, elegance, and popular humor, has been declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
Guided by a professional fileteador, you’ll discover the origins and stories of this art while learning the fundamentals: harmony of contrasts, balance of symmetrical curves, precision of fine lines, and ornate typography inspired by tango tradition.
Next, you’ll put your skills into practice during a hands-on fileteado workshop. You’ll design and paint your own motif on a sheet with guidance from the instructor. No prior experience required. Let your creativity shine!
After two hours, you’ll take home your creation as a keepsake, along with a certificate of participation.
