Belgrano Neighborhood Free Walking Tour
Tour Details
Welcome to one of the most famous neighborhoods in Buenos Aires! Let's start this free walking tour of Belgrano from Parque Barrancas.
First, we'll see the Casa de Valentín Alsina, from outside, a mansion that belonged to one of the most prominent governors of the province of Buenos Aires in the mid-19th century. As we admire this residence, we'll discuss the origins of the Belgrano neighborhood.
Next, we'll pass through the eastern archway that welcomes us to Buenos Aires' Chinatown, an exotic district that is part of Belgrano. Throughout the tour, we'll learn about the history of the first immigrants who arrived in the Argentine capital from Asia.
We'll also stroll down Bulevar Viaviva, a culinary promenade where we'll enjoy the aromas of Asian cuisine and the colorful works of different local muralists. Afterward, we'll pass through the Pasaje Arribeños, a century-old passageway built by architects Eduardo Lacalle Alonso and Jorge Birabén that won the "City Museum Award" in 1989.
Finally, we'll conclude our free walking tour of Belgrano in front of the Monumental, the stadium of Club Atlético River Plate, after 2.5 hours. Those who wish may visit this iconic soccer stadium on their own, home to one of the most successful teams not only in Argentina but in all of South America.
