Montevideo Day Trip + Candombe Workshop
Tour Details
At the indicated time, head to the Buquebus terminal in Puerto Madero and, from this point in Buenos Aires, set sail on a direct ferry to Uruguay.
After crossing of the Rio de la Plata, approximately 2.5 hours later, you'll dock at the port of Montevideo. Once you disembark, we'll pick you up at the pier to take you to Barrio Sur and Palermo. These districts of the capital are considered the birthplace of Candombe, a type of Afro-Uruguayan dance and musical style declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
We'll walk through the main streets of these neighborhoods and then enjoy a Candombe workshop. In this experience, held in one of these districts, we'll explore various types of drums and, of course, learn to play them to the rhythm of different beats.
At the end of the workshop, we'll go to a restaurant in the center of Montevideo to enjoy a delicious lunch. The menu includes a starter, a main course with a choice of meat, fish or pasta, and a dessert.
After lunch, we'll take a panoramic tour of Montevideo. From the vehicle, we'll see iconic sites of the Uruguayan capital like the Obelisk to the Constituents of 1830, the Centenario Stadium, the Rambla and the famous sign with the name of the city. After this tour, we'll take you to a popular shopping center, where you'll have about an hour free for shopping.
Finally, we'll head back to the port of Montevideo to take the Buquebus ferry to Buenos Aires. After a 2.5-hour crossing, you'll arrive at the Puerto Madero dock, where this 16-hour experience will come to an end.
