Chañaral Island Boat Ride + Whale & Dolphin Watching
Boat Ride Details
At the designated time, we'll meet at Caleta Chañaral de Aceituno. Here, you'll board a boat that will sail around Chañaral Island, one of the three islands that make up the Humboldt Penguin National Reserve. This protected area is known for its incredible nature and is a key spot for whale and dolphin watching in Chile.
During the boat ride, we'll border this volcanic island as you look for humpback whales, fin whales, and bottlenose dolphins, the species that mostly inhabit these waters of the Pacific Ocean. Keep your eyes peeled!
Besides whales and dolphins, this reserve is home to colonies of Humboldt penguins, sea lions, otters, and a wide variety of marine birds. All this in a landscape that combines cliffs, crystal-clear waters, and serenity that is only interrupted by the singing of the birds. It'll be a unique experience for nature enthusiasts!
After approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes of sailing, we'll return to dry land and say our goodbyes at the starting point.
Animal Watching
Chañaral Island is one of the best places in Chile to spot whales and dolphins. However, animals are unpredictable creatures. The chances of spotting them depend on many factors, such as the weather, and the reproductive and breeding seasons of the different species.
