Enjoy a unique day, visiting one of the oldest cities in the Americas with this fantastic trip to Santa Marta from Cartagena.

Tour Details

We'll pick you up at your hotel in Cartagena de Indias at the appointed time and board a minibus to Santa Marta, a historic town in the department of Magdalena - one of the oldest in the Americas!

En route to our destination, we'll make a quick stop for breakfast, consisting of a sandwich, accompanied by a glass of orange juice or a coffee. Once we've refueled, we'll continue our trip toward Santa Marta.

After a 4-hour drive, we'll arrive at our destination known as the 'Pearl of America'. The first stop of the tour will be the Quinta San Pedro Alejandrino hacienda, which is where military and political leader Simon Bolivar died. We'll explore this area before continuing to the statue of Pibe Valderrama where we'll learn about the life of the Colombian soccer player.

Afterwards, we'll go up to the viewpoint of Taganga, a picturesque fishermen's neighbourhood from where we'll have one of the best panoramic views of the Samaria Bay and its mountains. Photo moment!

We'll go down to the bay of Santa Marta and, while we learn about the history of the city and its most important people, we'll visit the old part of the city.

Next, we'll explore the historic centre of Santa Marta, where we'll see Parque de los Novios Park—an excellent place to retrace the life of Bolivar and his relationship with this historic city. A visit to Santa Marta is not complete without a visit to the cathedral, the oldest in South America. Afterwards, we'll visit Plaza Bolivar Square and walk through the colonial streets of the Colombian town.

Our next stop is the Gold Museum in Casa de la Aduana, which once functioned as the Customs House for the port of Santa Marta during the colonial era. Here, you'll discover the impressive cultural heritage of Santa Marta and Cartagena!

At this point in the tour, it will be time to get a bite to eat. We'll go to a local restaurant where we'll have a typical lunch consisting of fish, patacones, coconut rice and salads.

After eating, we'll head to the Rodadero sector, specifically to the quiet beaches of Bello Horizonte. There, you'll have 2 hours of free time to relax on the sand or swim in the beautiful waters of the Caribbean Sea.

Finally, we'll return to Santa Marta, where we'll finish the experience at your hotel after 18 hours of sightseeing.
